One Extinct Custom
Everyone will agree that the different pieces of childhood memories will never be forgotten. Whether it is a childhood game of 'lukochuri' or something else. The fun of finding someone in that game of hide and seek is really different. So if we want to play that hide and seek game in adulthood, it is fun, but we have to be a little surprised. But if this game is a tradition of an endangered population, then it makes us more curious.
Let us know today an interesting custom which used to be practiced by one of our peoples in India even though it is no longer observed with the passage of time. Mathuvan is one of the indigenous communities of Kerala. At the time of this group's marriage, a strange rule was followed.
When the marriage of the boy and the girl was finalised ,his acquaintances would hide the girl in the deep forest at some hidden place with her wedding dress. The boy would have to find his future bride from the forest to prove his bravery and for that he had to spend even a day or more and face wild animals too.
If the bridegroom failed to find the bride, the bride would not marry him, but someone else would be find out for that bride.To keep pace with the modern age and due to deforestation this custom is no longer observed among the tribal groups.

সকলে একটা ব্যাপারে একমত হবেন যে ছোটবেলার বিভিন্ন টুকরো টুকরো স্মৃতি কখনোই ভোলার নয়।তা সে ছেলেবেলার 'লুকোচুরি' খেলা হোক বা অন্যকিছু।সেই লুকোচুরি খেলার মধ্যে কাউকে খুঁজে বার করার মজাটাই আলাদা।তো সেই লুকোচুরি খেলাটাই আমাদের যদি পরিণত বয়সে খেলতে হলে মজাটা হলেও কিছুটা আশ্চর্য্য হতে হয়।কিন্তু এই খেলাটাই যদি একটা লুপ্ত হওয়া জনগোষ্ঠীর প্রথা হয়,তা হলে আমাদের আরও কৈতুহলী করে তোলে।
আসুন আজ আমরা এইরকমই এক মজার প্রথা জানবো যা আমাদের ভারতেরই এক জনগোষ্ঠির মধ্যে হতো যদিও তা সময়ের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে এগুলি এখন আর মানা হয় না।কেরলের আদিবাসী সম্প্রদায়গুলির মধ্যে মথুভান এক জনগোষ্ঠী ।সেই গোষ্ঠীরই বিয়ের সময়ে এক বিচিত্র নিয়ম মানা হতো।
ছেলে-মেয়ের বিয়ে পাকা হলে গভীর জঙ্গলে মেয়েকে তার পরিচিতরা বিয়ের সাজেই কোনো এক জায়গায় লুকিয়ে রেখে আসতো।ছেলেকে তার সাহসিকতার পরিচয় দিয়ে হবু কনেকে জঙ্গল থেকে খুঁজে আন্তে হতো।তাতে হয়তো ছেলের এক-দুদিন লেগে যেত।
হবু বর যদি কনেকে খুঁজে পেতে ব্যর্থ হতো তাহলে তার সঙ্গে কনের আর বিয়ে হতো না,আবার অন্য কাউকে খুঁজে নেওয়া হতো।আর যদি সে খুঁজে আনতে পারতো তাহলে খুব ধূমধামের সঙ্গে তাদের বিয়ে দেওয়া হতো।যদি আধুনিক যুগের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে চলতে ও জঙ্গল নিধন হওয়ার ফলে এখন আর এই প্রথা মানা হয় না।
