Political Manifesto
It would not be wrong to say that all of us in West Bengal are focusing on one thing now. Yes, I am talking about the upcoming assembly elections in our state. The tagline of this election is again 'Play and Win'. Many may think that under the democratic structure it is better if the game is a little fair and clean.
Let's try to get a little deeper into the matter. In any competition, the other party wins by defeating the opponent. But in that, everyone has to abide by the rules of the competition. But in our Bengali political context, we do not see any party abiding by this trend. What we all see is a list of lies in the name of the opposition, as if they have successfully fulfilled all the promises they made before the election, so they can give time to catch the faults and mistakes of the opposition. Our polite question to the political leaders is that if you all have done lots of jobs for the common people, then why is there so much poverty in our state and in different parts of the country? Why do our farmers still have to commit suicide for the high price of fertilizer and diesel? Why do so many children have to keep themselves away from the world of education in their childhood? We all know that you do not have the answers to so many questions.
Many like me may think that it would have been better if you had a fair competition among yourselves for the development of the state or the country. If you had presented a list of jobs done and a list not being able to complete with valid reasons to the people then the matter would have been very clear to us and we too could choose the right person for ourself.
I hope that in the days to come, the political leaders will keep this in mind and present a fair competition in front of us.

আমরা পশ্চিমবঙ্গবাসী সকলে এখন একটাই বিষয়ে উপর নজর দিয়ে আছি বললে বোধহয় ভুল হবে না।হ্যাঁ আমি আমাদের রাজ্যে আসন্ন বিধানসভার নির্বাচনের কথাই বলছি।এবারের নির্বাচনের ট্যাগলাইন আবার 'খেলা হবে,জেতা হবে'।হ্যাঁ,নির্বাচন আমাদের দেশে একটা খেলাই বটে।তবে আমার মতন অনেকেরই হয়তো মনে হয় এই গণতান্ত্রিক কাঠামোর অধীনে এই খেলা একটু সুষ্ঠ ও পরিষ্কার হলে ভালো হয়।
আসুন একটু বিষয়টার গভীরে গিয়ে চেষ্টা করি।যেকোনো প্রতিযোগিতায় বিপক্ষকে পরাজিত করে অপরপক্ষ জয় পেয়ে থাকে।কিন্তু তার মধ্যে প্রতিযোগিতার নিয়মকানুন সবাইকে মেনে চলতে হয়।কিন্তু আমাদের বঙ্গীয় রাজনৈতিক প্রেক্ষাপটে আমরা এই ধারা কোনো দলকেই মেনে চলতে দেখি না।তাহলে আমরা কী দেখতে পারি? আমরা যেটা সকলে দেখি তা হলো বিপক্ষের নাম করে তাদের মিথ্যাচারীতার লিস্ট ,যেন তারা নিজেরা নির্বাচনের প্রাক্কালে যে সকল প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলো তারা তা সব সফলভাবে পালন করেছে,তাই তারা বিপক্ষের দোষ-ভুল ধরতে সময় দিতে পারছে।রাজনৈতিক নেতা-নেতৃবর্গের কাছে আমাদের বিনীত প্রশ্ন এত কাজ আপনারা জনগণের জন্যে করে ফেলে থাকলে তাহলে আজও আমাদের রাজ্যে ও দেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে এতো দারিদ্র কেন?কেন আজও আমাদের কৃষককে সারের অস্বাভাবিক দামের জন্যে আত্মহত্যা করতে হয়?কেনই বা অসংখ্য শিশুদের তাদের শৈশবেই পড়াশুনার জগৎ থেকে নিজেদেরকে সরিয়ে রাখতে হয়? আমরা সকলেই জানি এতো প্রশ্নের উত্তর আপনাদের কাছে নেই।
আমার মতন অনেকেরই হয়তো মনে হয় যদি আপনারা নিজেদের মধ্যে রাজ্যের বা দেশের উন্নয়নের জন্যে একটা সুষ্ঠ প্রতিযোগিতা করতেন তাহলে অনেক ভালো হতো।নিজেদের মধ্যে সত্যিকারের কাজের বয়ান আর না কাজ করতে পারার লিস্ট জনগণের কাছে তুলে ধরতেন তাহলে আমাদের সামনেও বিষয়টা অনেক পরিষ্কার হতো ও আমরাও খুব সহজেই নিজেদের জন্যে উপযুক্ত ব্যক্তিকে নির্বাচন করতে পারতাম।
আশা করি আগামী দিনগুলোতে রাজনৈতিক নেতা-নেতৃবৰ্গ এবিষয়টি মাথায় রাখবেন ও আমাদের সামনে এক সুষ্ঠ প্রতিযোগিতা তুলে ধরবেন।
