A walnut and a pledge
We all believe in a sentence that a tree is the equivalent to a soul.So a healthy and normal person will just want more trees around him/her so that he/she can breathe more fresh air. But when this green tree (not harmfull in any sense) becomes the cause of suspicion of a child's life,then we people have to be a little doubtfull.It becomes more intersting when the matter goes to the court even though the court rules in favor of the tree. we will hear about such an incident today.
The incident took place in Trouse, Norfolk County, England. The fight was over a century-old walnut tree and a 6-year-old child. The baby's mother, Santal Beck, complained in court that the tree could be a cause for concern for the child's life.In fact, most of the walnut trees are leaning towards their gardens, and that's where Santal's concern is.
Because her two daughters play in the garden. Bonnie, one of the two daughters, has a severe allergy to walnuts. Santal claims that her allergies can lead to her death. Normally, people are allergic to any food, but in the case of the girl, the allergy is from walnut peel.

একটি আখরোট গাছ ও প্রাণসংশয়
আমরা সকলেই এই আপ্ত বাক্যে মানি যে একটি গাছ একটি প্রাণ সমতুল্য।তাই সুস্থ ও স্বাভাবিক মানুষ মাত্রই চাইবে যে তার আশেপাশে আরো গাছের সমারোহ থাকুক যাতে সে আরো বিশুদ্ধ বাতাস প্রাণভরে পারে।কিন্তু যখন এই সবুজ গাছই ( কোনোরকম বিষাক্ত নয়) কোনো শিশুর প্রাণ সংশয়ের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়ায় তখন মানুষকে একটু দ্বিধায় পড়তে হয় বৈকি।এমনকি বিষয়টি আদালত পর্যন্ত যায় যদিও আদালত গাছের পক্ষেই রায় দেয়।এরকমই একটি ঘটনার কথা আজ আমরা শুনবো।
ঘটনাটি সুদূর ইংল্যান্ডের নরফোক কাউন্টির ট্রাউসে।লড়াইটা ছিল একটি শতাব্দী প্রাচীন আখরোট গাছের সঙ্গে ও ৬ বছরের শিশুর সাথে।গাছটি শিশুটির প্রাণ সংশয়ের কারণ হতে পারে বলে আদালতে অভিযোগ করেছিলেন শিশুটির মা স্যান্টাল বেক।আসলে আখরোট গাছটির বেশীর ভাগ অংশই ঝুঁকে আছে তাদের বাগানের দিকে এবং সেখানেই স্যান্টালের চিন্তার কারণ।
কারণ তার দুটি মেয়েই এই বাগানেতে খেলা করে।দুইটি কন্যার মধ্যে বনি নামক মেয়েটির আখরোটে মারাত্বক রকমের এলার্জি আছে।স্যান্টালের দাবী বনির যেরকম এলার্জি আছে তাতে তার প্রাণও যেতে পারে।সাধারণত মানুষের এলার্জি কোনো খাবার জাতীয় থেকে হয়ে থাকে কিন্তু মেয়েটির ক্ষেত্রে আখরোটের খোসা থেকেই এই এলার্জি হয়।
এর ফলে মেয়েটির চোখ,মুখ ফুলে যায়,শরীর জুড়ে দেখা যায় লালচে ছোপে ,এমনকি দম পর্যন্ত বন্ধ হয়ে আসে।তাই বাধ্য হয়ে তিনি স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করে গাছটির কিছুটা অংশ বা যে অংশ তাদের বাগানের দিকে ঝুকে আছে তা কেটে নেওয়ার ব্যাপারে কথা বললেও তারা এ বিষয়ে কোনো কিছু করতে আগ্রহ দেখায়নি। তাই বাধ্য হয়ে স্যান্টালে আদালতে বিষয়টি তোলেন।কিন্তু আদালতও এ বিষয়ে তাদের অক্ষমতা জানায়।আসলে আদালতের বক্তব্য ছিল যেখানে বিষয়টি ১০০ বছরের একটি ফলনশীল গাছের এবং তার সঙ্গে জড়িয়ে রয়েছে স্থানীয়দের আবেগ,তাই তারা একপ্রকার নিরুপায়।আদালত এও বলে যে শিশুটিকেই ধীরে ধীরে পরিস্থিতির সঙ্গে মানিয়ে চলতে হবে।এই রায়দানের পরে স্যান্টালকে খুব সতর্ক হয়ে প্রত্যেকদিন বাগানটিকে আখরোটের খোসামুক্ত করতে হয় মেয়েকে বিপদ থেকে বাঁচাতে।
