Non Subsidise canteen at parliament

It was a lot of fun to read a news a few days ago.It was written in a famous Bengali newspaper that from this January onwards,food will no longer be served from the canteen of Parliament House for our honorable/nominated representatives with subsidies. What a shocking news it is? They are working day and night for us in the Parliament House, they are the people who brings our demands and all our daily hurdles in front of the government. And those people's representatives can no longer be given food at a lower price! what a shocking decision for those representatives!

In this context, for everyone's attention, I have given a short list of food available from the parliament canteen.Imagine for a second, as an ordinary citizen, no matter how little you eat on the road, you have to spend 50-100 rupees daily for ordinary street food. It means a monthly expense of Rs.1500-3000 for this purpose.

Look at the reverse side where a Member of Parliament gets a salary of Rs 50,000 per month. However, you should not be surprised by the amount of this salary, it comes with Rs 45,000 per month to run your own center, Rs 45,000 per month to run the office, Rs 2,000 per day to go to Parliament, the cost of airfare, etc. If you calculate, it will be more than one lakh per month. Even after this, they will get a guaranteed pension of Rs 20,000 per month.Also,if a new pay commission is formed, the salary will increase even more.So why should the government have this luxury for all these representatives?

Even the new price list given above seems to be quite cheap in some cases.So we all have the expectation from the government that if a common man life can struggle without getting subsidy, then why can't they pay without subsidized price?

কদিন আগে একটা খবর পড়ে বেশ মজা লেগেছিলো।একটা প্রখ্যাত বাংলা সংবাদপত্রে লেখা হয়েছিল যে এই চলতি জানুয়ারী মাস থেকে পার্লামেন্ট হাউসের ক্যান্টিন থেকে আমাদের মাননীয় /মনোনীয়া প্রতিনিধিদের জন্যও ভর্তুকি দিয়ে আর খাবার পরিবেশন করা হবে না।সত্যেই কী দুঃখের কথা বলুন তো?আমাদের নির্বাচিত জনপ্রতিনিধিরা আমাদের জন্যে পার্লামেন্ট হাউসে গিয়ে দিন-রাত এক করে ফেলছে,আমাদের কষ্টের কথা সরকারের কাছে জানাতে গিয়ে কী অমানুষিক পরিশ্রমই না করে চলেছেন।আর সেই জনপ্রতিনিধিদের আর কম দামে খাবার দেওয়ায় যাবে না।এই প্রসঙ্গে সকলের দৃষ্টিপাতের জন্য উপরে একটি সংক্ষিপ্ত ক্যান্টিন থেকে খাবারের লিস্ট তুলে ধরলাম।ভাবুন একবার একজন সাধারন নাগরিক হিসাবে পথে-ঘাটে যত কমেতেই খাবার খান না কেন,দৈনিক ৫০-১০০ টাকা আপনাকে খরচ করতেই হয়।তা মাস গেলে আপনাকে ১৫০০-৩০০০ টাকা খরচা করতে হয়।

উল্টো দিকটা দেখুন যেখানে একজন পার্লামেন্টের প্রতিনিধি প্রতিমাসে ৫০,০০০ টাকা বেতন পেয়ে থাকে।তবে এই বেতনের পরিমান দেখে চমকে উঠলে হবে না,এর সঙ্গে আছে নিজের কেন্দ্র চালাবার জন্য প্রতি মাসে ৪৫,০০০ টাকা,অফিস চালাতে মাসিক ৪৫,০০০ টাকা ,পার্লামেন্টের যাওয়ার জন্য দৈনিক ২০০০ টাকা,বিমানে যাওয়ার খরচা ইত্যাদি সহ আরো অনেক কিছু,যা মোটামুটি হিসাব করলে মাসে লাখ খানেকের বেশী দাড়াবে।এর পরেও অবসরকালীন মাসিক ২০,০০০ টাকার নিশ্চিত পেনশন।এছাড়াও নতুন বেতন কমিশন গঠন হলে তার দাপটে বেতনেরও বহর আরও বাড়বে বৈকী।তো এই সকল প্রতিনিধিদের জন্য সরকারের কেন এই বিলাসিতা করতে হবে ?

এমনকি উপরে নতূন যে বর্ধিত তালিকা প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে তাও কিছু ক্ষেত্রে বেশ কম বলেই মনে হয়।তাই আমাদের সকলের সরকারের কাছে এই প্রত্যাশা থাকে যে যদি একজন সাধারণ মানুষ কোনরকম ভর্তুকি না পেয়ে জীবন সংগ্রাম করতে পারে,তাহলে এতরকম সুবিধা পাওয়া জনপ্রতিনিধিরাই বা পারবেন না কেন?
