There are so many characters in our lives that our curiosity doesn't end there. Most of the characters don't match reality but they have a special place in our minds. One such character is Bram Stoker's bone-chilling 'Dracula' which is a fear in our minds. He awakens a shiver. To all the readers, he is a very bloodthirsty person who drinks blood with his sharp teeth whenever he gets a chance.

So far we all know more or less, and we also know that the character is entirely fictionalized by the author.But very few of us know that Dracula was a fictional character, but coincidentally there was a real man by this name whose real name was Vlad the Impeller, whose other name was Dracula. Let's take a brief look at him. 

In fact, he belong to the members of the Order of Dragons for generations, and probably got the name Dracula from there.However, history has shown that this prince, the third Vlad, was very cruel, and loved to crucify his enemies.Writer Bram Stoker imagines that vampire cruelty may be derived from the character of third Vlad. But Dracula was also a victim of a cruel mockery of history.During his invasion of the Ottoman Empire in 1482, he was captured by King Matthias of Hungary and imprisoned for 12 consecutive years in a maze fort.

It is said that during his captivity he was subjected to unspeakable torture. Inside the fort there is still a house known as 'Dracula's House'.This third Vlad, or Dracula, was a burning proof of how history has been rebuilding itself. After his captivity, he was sent to war against the Ottoman Empire, where he died in the battle.He who was the terror of all in his personal life, his end result will be so tragic, that was quite normal.

আমাদের জীবনের সঙ্গে এমনকিছু চরিত্র জড়িয়ে থাকে,যা নিয়ে আমাদের কৌতূহলের শেষ হয় না।চরিত্রগুলো বেশীরভাগ বাস্তবের সঙ্গে মিল না থাকলেও আমাদের মনের ভিতরে তা আলাদারকম স্থান নিয়ে থাকে।এইরকমই এক চরিত্র হলো ব্রাম স্টোকারের হাড় হীম করা 'ড্রাকুলা' যা আমাদের সকলের মনেই এক ভীতি ও শিহরণ জাগায়।সকল পাঠকের কাছেই সে এক ভীষণ রকম রক্তপিপাসু যে সুযোগ পেলেই তার ধারালো দাঁত দিয়ে রক্ত পান করে থাকে।  

এ পর্যন্ত আমরা সকলেই কম-বেশী জানি,এবং আমরা এও জানি যে এই চরিত্রটি সম্পূর্ণ ভাবে লেখকের কল্পনাপ্রসূত  ।কিন্তু আমরা খুব কমজনই জানি যে ড্রাকুলা চরিত্রটি কাল্পনিক হলেও কাকতলীয় ভাবে এই নামে একজন বাস্তবিক ব্যক্তি ছিলেন যার প্রকৃত নাম ছিল ভ্লাদ দ্যা ইম্পেলার,যার অপর নাম ছিল 'ড্রাকুলা '।আসুন এনার সংক্ষিপ্ত পরিচয় নেওয়া যাক।ইনি ছিলেন রোমানিয়ার 'ওয়ালসিয়ার রাজপুত্র বা প্রিন্স '।

আসলে বংশপরম্পরায় তারা 'অর্ডার অফ ড্রাগনের' সদস্য হন ও সম্ববত সেখান থেকেই এই  'ড্রাকুলা ' নামটি পাওয়া ।তবে ইতিহাস থেকে জানা যায় যে এই রাজপুত্র তথা তৃতীয় ভ্লাদ খুব অত্যাচারী ছিলেন,ও শত্রুদের নিষ্ঠুর ভাবে শুলে চড়াতে ভালোবাসতেন,এতটাই নিষ্ঠুর ছিলেন তিনি।লেখক ব্রাম স্টোকারের কল্পনায় ভ্যাম্পায়ার নিষ্ঠুরতা সম্ববত এনার চরিত্র থেকে নেওয়া ।কিন্তু এই ড্রাকুলাও ইতিহাসের এক নিষ্ঠুর পরিহাসের শিকার ।১৪৬২ সালে তিনি অটোমান সাম্রাজ্য আক্রমণকালে তিনি হাঙ্গেরির রাজা মাথিয়াসের হাতে বন্দি হন ও টানা ১২ বছর গোলকধাঁধাময় দুর্গে বন্দি ছিলেন ।

  

শোনা যায় এই বন্দি দশায় তার ওপর অকথ্য অত্যাচার করা হতো।দুর্গের ভিতর আজও একটি ঘর 'ড্রাকুলা ঘর 'নামে পরিচিত।ইতিহাস কীভাবে নিজেকে পুনর্নির্মাণ করে থাকে তার জ্বলন্ত প্রমান হলেন এই তৃতীয় ভ্লাদ তথা ড্রাকুলা।বন্দি দশা কাটাবার পর তাকে অটোমান সাম্রাজ্যের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধে পাঠানো হয় ও সেখানেই তিনি নিহত হন।যিনি ব্যাক্তিজীবনে ছিলেন সকলের ত্রাস ,তার শেষ পরিণতি এমন করুণ হবে,এটাই তো স্বাভাবিক।
