Selfie History
All of us, especially young boys and girls, are deeply involved in the world of 'selfie'. whether it is at home, at work or elsewhere, life without a selfie is like a calm river. There is a lot of debate about how many people have their own needs or how far the disadvantages are. Today we will try to highlight some unknown aspects of this selfie without going into all those debates.
Many of us don't know that though selfie is relevant to today's youth, but it was started by a chemist about 182 years ago. He was an American chemist whose name was Robert Connellys. Although he had a family business of lightshades, according to the US Library of Congress he took the world's first selfie in 1839.
If you look closely at the picture, it is clear that his eyesight is slightly away from the camera.In fact, at that time, the camera lens had to be held in front of the light for about 15 minutes in a dagerotype process to take a good picture. Probably because of that, his eyesight shifted a bit.
Exactly one month after Robert Connellys , Hippolyt Baird of France captured the first 'stage selfie' or camera in the background by placing himself as a dead man in the picture which was his protest against the french academy of science.
Even after this, the youngest daughter of the last Tsar of Russia captured herself in the mirror with the help of Kodak Brownie camera. This was about 1913.
But Nathan Hopp, the Australian who first introduced the world to modern selfies, posted his injured picture on the net in 2002.
The word selfie got its place in Oxford dictionary in 2013 and it was the best word of the year that year.so according to the definition oxford dictionary says that after taking a picture of yourself on a webcam on a smartphone, if it is shared on the net, then only it will get the tag of selfie.
The picture of Aldrin taken into space in 1966 is also historic. It was the first self taken in space.
In this context, it would not be right without saying one more thing. However, it happened before the word selfie and it happened in our Bengal .The famous Ray's own selfie with his mother which he pulled himself by tying the thread behind the camera shutter. we think it has also a great historical significance.

সেলফির ইতিকথা
আমরা সকলে বিশেষ করে কমবয়সী ছেলে-মেয়েরা 'সেলফি' কথাটির সঙ্গে খুব নিবিড় ভাবে জড়িত।তা সে বাড়ীতে,কর্মস্থলে বা অন্য জায়গাতেই হোক সেলফিহীন জীবন যেন এক নিস্তরঙ্গ নদী।এর সঙ্গে কতটা মানুষের নিজের প্রয়োজনীয়তা আছে বা এর অপকারিতা কতদূর পর্যন্ত বিস্তরিত তাও অনেক তর্কের বিষয়।আজকে আমরা সেই সকল বিতর্কের মধ্যে না গিয়ে এই সেলফির কিছু অজানা দিকগুলি তুলে ধরার চেষ্টা করবো।
কিন্তু আমাদের অনেকেরই জানা নেই যে সেলফি আজকের যুব সমাজের কাছে প্রাসঙ্গিক হলেও এর আসল সূচনা হয়েছিল আজ থেকে প্রায় ১৮২ বছর আগে এক রসায়নবিদের হাত ধরে।আমেরিকান সেই রসায়নবিদের নাম হলো রবার্ট কনেলিয়াস।নিজেদের যদিও ঝাড়লণ্ঠনের পারিবারিক ব্যবসা ছিল, আমেরিকার লাইব্রেরী অফ কংগ্রেসের দেওয়া তথ্যানুযায়ী তিনিই বিশ্বের প্রথম সেলফি গ্রাহক এবং তিনি তা তুলেছিলেন ১৮৩৯ সালে।
ছবিটি ভালো করে দেখলে বোঝা যায় যে তার দৃষ্টি ক্যামেরা থেকে সামান্য সরে আছে।আসলে সেই সময়ে ড্যাগেরোটাইপ পদ্ধতিতে ক্যামেরার লেন্স প্রায় ১৫ মিনিট ধরে আলোর সামনে ধরে থাকতে হতো ছবি ভালো করে তোলার জন্যে।সম্ভবত সেই কারণেই তার দৃষ্টি কিছুটা সরে গিয়েছিলো।
রবার্টের ঠিক এক মাসের ব্যবধানে ফ্রান্সের হিপোলাইট বায়ার্ড সর্বপ্রথম 'স্টেজেড সেলফি' বা পিছনের ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড একটু সাজিয়ে গুছিয়ে নিজেকে একজন মৃত মানুষের ভূমিকায় সাজিয়ে নিজেকে ক্যামেরাবন্দি করেছিলেন।
এর পরেও রাশিয়ার শেষ জারের কনিষ্ঠা কন্যা আয়নায় নিজস্বী তোলেন কোডাক ব্রাউনি ক্যামেরার সাহায্যে।এটি ১৯১৩ সালের কথা।
তবে আধুনিক সেলফির সঙ্গে বিশ্ববাসীর প্রথম পরিচয় করান অস্ট্রেলীয় ব্যাক্তি নাথান হপ ২০০২ সালে যখন তিনি তার জখম হওয়া ছবি নেটের মাধ্যমে দিয়েছিলেন।
এই সেলফি কথাটি ২০১৩ সালে অক্সফোর্ডে জায়গা পেয়েছে এবং সেই বছরে সবচেয়ে বর্ষসেরা শব্দ ছিল এটি।তো সেই অক্সফোর্ডের অভিধানে বলা হয়েছে যে নিজের ছবি স্মার্টফোনে ওয়েবক্যামে তোলার পর যদি তা নেটমাধ্যমে শেয়ার করা হয় তবেই তা সেলফির তকমা পাবে।
১৯৬৬ সালে মহাকাশে তোলা অলড্রিনের ছবিটিও ঐতিহাসিক।মহাকাশে তোলা প্রথম নিজস্বী ছিল সেটি ।
এ প্রসঙ্গে আর একটি কথা না বললে ঠিক হবে না।যদিও তা সেলফি কথাটির আসার আগের ঘটনা এবং আমাদের বাংলার বুকেই ঘটনাটি ঘটে।বিখ্যাত সত্যজিৎ রায়ের নিজের মায়ের সঙ্গে তোলা একটি নিজস্বী যা তিনি ক্যামেরার সাটারের পিছনে সুতো বেঁধে নিজেই টেনে তুলেছিলেন।এরও ঐতিহাসিক গুরুত্ব কম নয় বলেই আমরা মনে করি ।
