It was a lot of fun to read a news a few days ago.It was written in a famous Bengali newspaper that from this January onwards,food will no longer be served from the canteen of Parliament House for our honorable/nominated representatives with subsidies. What a shocking news it is? They are working day and night for us in the Parliament House, they are the people who brings our demands and all our daily hurdles in front of the government. And those people's representatives can no longer be given food at a lower price! what a shocking decision for those representatives! In this context, for everyone's attention, I have given a short list of food available from the parliament canteen.Imagine for a second, as an ordinary citizen, no matter how little you eat on the road, you have to spend 50-100 rupees daily for ordinary street food. It means a monthly expense of Rs.1500-3000 for this purpose. Look at the reverse side where a Member of Parliament gets a salary of Rs 50,000 per month...

আসুন আজ আমরা পাখিদের জগতে বিচরণ করি।আমরা সকলেই পাখি  ভালোবাসি ,কেউ পাখি পুষতে ভালোবাসি ,কেউ আবার তার ডাক শুনতে  ভালোবাসি ,কেউ আবার তাদের বাহারি রঙের জাদুতেই মোহিত না হয়ে পারি  না।কিন্তু জানেন কী পাখিদের শুধু ডাক ও রঙের বৈচিত্রই দেখা যায় না, এদের বাসার গঠনের বৈচিত্রও দেখবার মতন।আসুন বেশি কথা না বলে তাদের সামান্য কয়েকটা তুলে ধরা যাক। ১)  ঈগল পাখির বাসা : এদের বাসার  ব্যাস মোটামুটি ৫-৬ ফুট ও লম্বায় ২-৮ ফুটের হয়ে থেকে,এবং ওজনে বেশ ভারী হয়।যে গাছে এরা বাসা তৈরী করে,তা যদি শক্তপোক্ত হয়,তাহলে পুনরায় ওই একই বাসায় আবার নতুন করে সাজাতে পারে।এদের বাসা তৈরী করতে প্রায় ৩ মাস লাগে। ২) হাম্মিং পাখির বাসা : পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে ছোট আকৃতির পাখি।লম্বা ৩-৪ ইঞ্চি হয়।খুব স্বাভাবিক কারণেই এদের বাসায় আকৃতিতে ছোট।সাধারণত গাছের ডালের উপরে ছোট ছোট পাতা,মাকড়সার ও নরম জিনিস দিয়ে এরা বাসা তৈরি করে।সবচেয়ে মজা হলো যে এদের বাসা প্রয়োজন অনুসারে আকৃতিতে ছোট-বড়ো হতে পারে অনেকটা রবার প্রকৃতির। ৩)ভাসমান বাসা: জলের থেকে অনেক দূরে উঁচুভূমির তৃণভূমিতে অনেক হাঁস সহ কিছু পাখি এই জাতীয়...

আজ ২৬-এ জানুয়ারী,ভারতের প্রজাতন্ত্র দিবস।তাই সর্বপ্রথম সকল দেশবাসীকে শুভ ও ঐতিহাসিক এই প্রজাতন্ত্র দিবসের ৭২ তম বর্ষে সকলকে জানাই অভিনন্দন|এই দিনটিতেই ১৯৫০-এ  ভারতের সংবিধানের যাত্রা পথের সূচনা হয় ও বিশ্বের দরবারে ভারত বৃহত্তম গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্র হিসেবে পরিচিতও হয়।এই সকল বিষয় মোটের উপর আমাদের জানা আছে,কী তাই তো? কিন্তু এর বাইরেও অনেক তথ্য আছে যা খুব কম লোকেই জানে।আসুন সেগুলি দেখা যাক। ১)যদিও ভারত স্বাধীন হয় ১৯৪৭ সালের ১৫ই আগস্টে,কিন্তু দিনটি নির্ধারিত হয়েছিল ব্রিটিশ সরকার দ্বারা।ইতিপূর্বে পরাধীন ভারতে আমাদের নিজেদের কোন সংবিধান ছিল না,ব্রিটিশদের দ্বারা প্রণীত "গভর্নমেন্ট অফ ইন্ডিয়ান এক্ট ,১৯৩৫" অনুযায়ী নির্ধারিত হতো।তাই স্বাধীন ভারতে সেই আইনটিকে সংশোধন করে ১৯৪৯ সালের ২৬ নভেম্বরের পূর্বে কার্যকর করা হতো।যদিও ২৬ নভেম্বর,১৯৪৯ সালে সংবিধানটি গৃহীত হয়েছিল,তবে তা আইনত কার্যকর হয় ১৯৫০-এ ২৬ জানুয়ারী।আর দিনটি ২৬ জানুয়ারী ভাবা হয়েছিল যেহেতু পরাধীন ভারতে এই দিনটিকে "পূর্ণ স্বরাজ" দিন রূপে পালন করা হতো।           ২)আমরা সকলেই জানি যে ভারতের সংব...

আজ আমরা একটু খাবার দাবার জগতের বিভিন্ন মজার না জানা কথা জানার চেষ্টা করবো।ভাবছেন এ আবার নতুন কী !আসলে প্রতিদিনই আমরা সকলে জীবন ধারণের জন্য বিভিন্ন জিনিস খেয়ে থাকি,তার কিছু পুষ্টিদায়ক থাকে বা লোভনীয়ও হয়ে থাকে। কিন্তু সেই খাবার খাওয়ার সময় অনেক কথা লুকিয়ে থাকে,যা আমরা জানতে পারি না।আসুন এক ঝলক দেখে নেওয়া যাক। ১)পাউন্ড কেক :জানেন কী এর এরূপ নামকরণ কেন?আসলে এই কেক  তৈরীর  জন্য যে যে উপকরণ লাগে যেমন-ডিম ,মাখন ,চিনি এ সব পরিমানে এক পাউন্ড করে দরকার লাগে,সেই থেকে কেকটিও এক "পাউন্ড কেক" নাম পরিচিত। ২)ক্র্যাকার বিস্কুটে ছিদ্র :আমরা সকলেই ক্র্যাকার বিস্কুট খেতে ভালোবাসি।তাই তো?কিন্তু কখনো কী ভেবে দেখেছেন ক্র্যাকার এই ছিদ্র থাকে কেন?তার কারণ বিস্কুট ছিদ্রবিশিষ্ট হওয়ায় বায়ুকণা চলাচল করে ও তা খারাপ হয়ে যাওয়া থেকে বাঁচায়। ৩) লঙ্কার ঝাল: ঝাল লঙ্কা খেয়ে আমরা সকলেই চোখের জল ফেলেছি।কিন্তু জানেন কী এই ঝাল বোধটা আমাদের জিভের নয়,এটা আসলে আমাদের মস্তিষ্কের স্নায়ুর খেল।আসলে লঙ্কা দানার মধ্যে ক্যাপসাইকিন নামক এক ধরণের রাসায়নিক থাকায় এরকম হয়ে থাকে। ৪)ফ্রেঞ্চ...
